Anyang city will hold its 81st Liberation Day ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium on the second floor of the Anyang City Hall annex.

The event is designed to honor the sacrifice of patriots and independence fighters who gave their lives to restore national sovereignty, and to reflect on the historical significance of liberation with residents.

Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho said the Republic of Korea today was built on the noble sacrifice of patriots and independence fighters who devoted themselves to the country's independence.

About 600 people are expected to attend, including members of the Korean Liberation Association, families of independence merit holders, veterans' organizations, heads of major institutions and civic groups, and residents.

The ceremony will open with a performance by the Capital Corps military band, followed by the national pledge, commendations for meritorious individuals, commemorative and congratulatory addresses, a performance by the Anyang City Boys and Girls Choir, a communal singing of the Liberation Day song, and three cheers of "Manse."

A digital exhibition and photo zone will also be set up at the venue to help residents learn about the local history of the independence movement in an accessible way.

Additional displays will include the Korean Liberation Association's Anyang chapter presentation "Independence Movement Stories with Baekbeom Kim Gu" and the Independence Hall of Korea's photo exhibition on the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, offering visitors a range of material on the historical meaning of liberation.

The commemorative exhibition has been running since Aug. 1, allowing residents to engage with the history of the independence movement and the spirit of the nation's forebears both before and on the day of the ceremony.
