Mungyeong Mayor Kim Hak-hong held a press briefing Thursday afternoon at the city hall's second conference room to mark 30 days in office, announcing key policy plans aimed at reviving the local economy and reforming city administration.

Kim outlined his activities since taking office, focusing on field-based governance, and laid out plans for two flagship initiatives: distributing a high-oil-price crisis relief grant to all residents and holding a series of public forums on city policy.

"Reviving the local neighborhood commercial districts and small businesses is my top priority," Kim said. "We will distribute a high-oil-price crisis relief grant of 250,000 won ($177) per person to every resident before the Chuseok holiday."

He also said the city would hold a series of public forums to shape a 100-year vision for Mungyeong together with its residents. "We will move away from the old one-way style of delivering administrative decisions and instead build a forum where citizens' voices form the backbone of city governance," he said, adding that the goal was to establish a city vision that residents can genuinely feel.

"A crisis is a powerful opportunity for innovation for those who act decisively," Kim said. "We will prove the future of a better, stronger Mungyeong not with empty slogans but with concrete action and results — delivering the relief grants before Chuseok and holding the public forums."
