The city of Mungyeong in North Gyeongsang Province held a meeting of the Mungyeong Apple Festival Organizing Committee on Wednesday to kick off preparations for the 2026 Mungyeong Apple Festival, scheduled to run for 16 days from Oct. 17 to Nov. 1 at Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park.
The meeting, chaired by organizing committee head Lee Mun-jae, brought together committee members and officials to share the overall planning schedule — including the festival's dates and venue — and gather input from participants.
The festival pairs Mungyeong apples, regarded as among the finest in the country, with the autumn scenery of Mungyeongsaejae.
This year's event is designed to showcase the quality of Mungyeong apples while giving visitors plenty to see, do and linger over. Programming will include sales booths for Mungyeong apples and other local agricultural products, hands-on activities for families, cultural performances and participatory events — all aimed at drawing visitors of all ages.
"We will put our heart into preparations so that everyone who comes to the festival can experience both the taste of Mungyeong apples and the warmth of Mungyeong's hospitality," organizing committee chair Lee said.
Mungyeong Mayor Kim Hak-hong said the city would work to deliver a festival that is both dignified and safe. "We will do our best to fully convey the charm of Mungyeong to visitors coming from across the country," he said.
