Gyeonggi Province announced Wednesday that the "Gwangmyeong-Gunpo Public Incinerator Mutual Incineration Agreement" won the grand prize at the 2026 Proactive Administration Best Practices Competition, held Tuesday at the Gyeonggi Arts Center.

The province solicited entries from its 31 cities and counties and 187 public institutions, receiving 58 submissions — 25 from cities and counties and 33 from public institutions. Of those, 18 cases — eight from cities and counties and 10 from public institutions — advanced through preliminary screening.

Final winners were determined by combining public opinion survey results with scores from the final round of judging. This year, the province increased the weight of the public survey from 10 points to 20 points in an effort to identify cases with a stronger impact on residents' daily lives.

In the final results, the grand prize went to Gwangmyeong and Gunpo for the "Gunpo-Gwangmyeong Public Incinerator Mutual Incineration Agreement." The top prize among cities and counties went to Suwon for its "Nation's First! Postal Auto-Linked Integrated Customized Electronic Notification" initiative, while the top prize among public institutions went to the Yongin Volunteer Center for its "Ready-Yong Disaster Response Platform" project and to the Yeoju Urban Corporation for its "Mobility Support System for Pregnant Women" program. Excellence awards went to Namyangju, Icheon, Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, Goyang Industry Promotion Agency, Uijeongbu Urban Corporation and Yeoncheon-gun Facility Management Corporation. Encouragement awards went to Goyang, Hwaseong, Yeoju, Yangju, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation, Pocheon Urban Corporation and Yangju Urban Corporation.
