Sokcho city recognized 21 civil servants Wednesday for their contributions to improving public complaint administration services in the first half of 2026 — six for outstanding complaint processing and 15 for outstanding customer service.

The outstanding complaint-processing awards were evaluated based on mileage points assigned according to how much each civil servant reduced processing times for statutory complaints. For complaints submitted through the People's Ombudsman system, the city factored in the number of cases handled, adherence to processing deadlines, quality of responses and customer satisfaction scores.

The outstanding customer-service honorees were selected by tallying citizen satisfaction ratings and case counts gathered through Sokcho City's website praise board, the People's Ombudsman system and a customer feedback box. Both categories of winners were finalized after review by the city's complaint adjustment committee.

Each outstanding complaint-processing honoree will receive a mayoral commendation and a cash prize of 150,000 won ($106), while each outstanding customer-service honoree will receive 100,000 won.

The awards were established to encourage staff who have demonstrated prompt, accurate complaint handling and courteous service, and to raise the overall standard of public services that residents can tangibly experience.
