Starbucks Korea announced Wednesday it will continue supporting young cultural and artistic talent through its "Starlight Live" program.
Starlight Live is a youth arts support project Starbucks has run jointly with the Arts Council Korea since 2023. The program has staged more than 550 performances to date, with 1,000 young artists having taken the stage.
Starbucks is accepting applications through Aug. 30 for artists to participate in the second-half Starlight Live lineup. Eligible applicants are artists between the ages of 19 and 39. Individuals and groups of up to four members may apply through the In the Cave website, regardless of musical genre.
Thirty acts selected through an audition process will perform at five Starbucks locations nationwide — Jangchung Lounge R, The Yeosu Dolsan DT, Sejong Seoul Arts Center, Buk-Osan IC DT and Gyeongdong 1960 — from October through next March.
On Sunday, a jazz performance will be held at the Yangsan Tongdosa store, followed by a classical and chanson concert at the Riverside Daeseongni DT store on Aug. 22. Through September, weekly performances under the theme "A Healing Journey of Coffee and Music" will take place at stores in Yongin Gogidong Yuwonji, Jeonju Eco DT, Yangsan Tongdosa and Riverside Daeseongni DT. A special performance will also be held at the Gyeongdong 1960 store on the last Saturday of each month.
"More and more customers are making a point of visiting our stores specifically to see Starlight Live," said Kim Ji-young, head of Starbucks Korea's ESG team. "We will continue to develop diverse programs that let the brilliant talents of young artists shine."
