Anyang city will hold the 23rd Anyang SmartT-eum Festival at the Anyang General Stadium gymnasium complex Aug. 29-30.
The city said Wednesday that the festival began in 2002 as the "Anyang Cyber Festival" before relaunching under its current name in 2024, and is marking its 23rd edition this year. Running under the slogan "Imagination into everyday life! Anyang SmartT-eum that changes my life!", the event will center on AI as its core theme.
The festival will feature an AI theme zone where visitors can experience emerging technologies including robots, drones, mobility and physical AI. A special exhibition hall themed "AI enlists in the military" will also run, offering displays of military drones and advanced equipment alongside a shooting experience.
Competitions will give aspiring young science talents a chance to go head-to-head.
The event opens with a laser show ceremony and includes AI-focused lectures aimed at sharing insights on living in the age of artificial intelligence.
Hands-on experiences are spread throughout the venue — science clubs from 16 middle and high schools will run their own activity booths, and visitors can try autonomous vehicle rides (Level 3) and view Level 4 demonstrations day and night. A mobile astronomy observation bus and an escape-room science bus round out the lineup. Quiz contests and prize draws will add to the festive atmosphere.
"We have proactively reflected the rapidly shifting trends of the AI era so that students and citizens can experience the latest technology," Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho said. "I hope families enjoy a fun and enriching time exploring the technologies of the future."
