A teenage boy with an intellectual disability has been booked by police after setting fire to his home because his mother had not prepared a meal for him.
The Chungju Police Station in North Chungcheong Province booked the teenager, identified only as A, on charges of arson of an inhabited building. He was not detained.
A is accused of placing clothing on a gas stove and setting it alight at a multi-unit residence in Gyohyeon-dong, Chungju, at around 1:24 p.m. Tuesday.
The fire burned household furnishings and other belongings before firefighters extinguished it in about 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident based on statements that A had expressed frustration with his mother for not making him food.
