Hana Bank announced Wednesday that it has established a specialized foreign exchange center dedicated to handling the increasingly complex global financial needs of corporations and high-net-worth individuals, including foreign direct investment, overseas investment and cross-border capital transactions.

The bank opened its Foreign Exchange Capital Transaction Center at Place1 in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on Tuesday. The center is a specialized unit that provides professional support across a full range of foreign exchange capital transactions — from FDI and overseas direct investment to foreign securities acquisition — as well as financial services related to overseas emigration.

The bank has stationed dedicated foreign exchange specialists in Gangnam, an area home to major law firms, accounting firms, corporations and high-net-worth individuals. Working through a collaborative network with legal and accounting firms, the center aims to offer a one-stop service where clients can handle complex foreign exchange matters — including regulatory filings, consultations and financing — all in one place.

Specific services include FDI registration, foreign currency account opening, foreign exchange filing consultations for domestic and overseas investment and real estate acquisition, foreign currency financing, and cross-border capital transaction advisory. As cross-border investment and capital flows grow, the bank's foreign exchange operations are expanding from basic remittance and filing services into comprehensive advisory covering investment structures and financing.

The center will also offer financial services for emigrants and overseas Koreans returning home. It plans to provide tailored consultations covering the entire emigration process — from remitting emigration funds and acquiring overseas assets to foreign exchange filings — as well as financial settlement support after clients return to Korea.

The Tuesday opening ceremony was attended by Hana Bank CEO Lee Ho-seong, Yulchon managing partner Kang Seok-hun, Barun law firm managing partner Lee Dong-hun, and partner attorneys from law firms Hwawoo and Daeryuk Aju, who discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in promoting foreign exchange capital transactions.

"We have continuously strengthened our foreign exchange expertise in line with the changing global financial environment," Lee said. "Through the Foreign Exchange Capital Transaction Center, we will deliver faster and more specialized financial solutions for complex foreign exchange transactions."
