The Korea Real Estate Board announced Wednesday it will launch a fixed-date information linkage project with the Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) to strengthen jeonse fraud prevention and protect tenants' deposits. Tenants will be able to check their fixed-date registration information in real time through the Anshim Jeonse app, a jeonse safety application.

The agreement is a follow-up measure to the government's jeonse fraud prevention plan. Its core feature integrates lease data held within the integrated lease information system into the app in real time, allowing users to view housing lease information previously scattered across multiple agencies in one place.

Under the arrangement, the Korea Real Estate Board will supply HUG with tenants' fixed-date registration data in real time, enabling tenants to quickly confirm through the app whether their priority repayment rights have taken effect and the exact moment those rights were secured.

Previously, tenants had to visit administrative offices such as community centers in person to verify when their fixed date was granted and whether their priority repayment rights were in place. The new data linkage is expected to significantly improve tenants' access to information and overall convenience by making such checks available instantly through the app.

"Real estate is the foundation of life that all citizens should be able to enjoy with stability, and securing residential stability is a core task," Korea Real Estate Board President Lee Heon-uk said. "As a data-specialist institution, we will do our utmost to guarantee citizens' right to housing and create a transparent and safe lease market environment."

Meanwhile, the Korea Real Estate Board signed an MOU last month with seven banks entrusted with the National Housing and Urban Fund — KB Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank, Nonghyup Bank, Busan Bank and iM Bank — on building a housing finance environment to support residential stability and sound household debt management.
