Gradiant Bioconvergence, a company specializing in organoid technology, announced Wednesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Curiosis, a lab automation and live-cell imaging firm, to optimize organoid-based drug evaluation and image analysis.
Under the agreement, the two companies will integrate Gradiant Bioconvergence's patient-derived organoid (PDO)-based drug evaluation platform with Curiosis's live-cell imaging system, Celloger. The combination will enable real-time 3D monitoring of organoid growth and drug responses while maximizing the efficiency of image data analysis.
Gradiant Bioconvergence has built a platform for evaluating drug candidate efficacy and identifying new therapeutic targets, drawing on clinical and genomic (NGS) data linked to approximately 1,000 PDO lines. The company plans to combine its proprietary AI technology with live-cell imaging to improve the accuracy and reliability of its evaluation services, while Curiosis aims to expand its technology into the organoid imaging field to generate business synergies.
The partnership is particularly significant for its positioning ahead of a shifting global regulatory environment — led by the FDA — that seeks to reduce reliance on animal testing in drug development and expand the use of human-derived models. As organoids emerge as a leading human-based alternative testing model, the precision of efficacy evaluation data is increasingly a core competitive advantage.
