The Gimcheon Arts Center announced Wednesday that it will stage the family musical "Grandma's Summer Vacation" on Sept. 12.

The production is based on the bestselling picture book of the same name by author Annyeongdal, which has won wide acclaim for its compelling story and beautiful illustrations.

The story follows a grandmother who spends lonely days at home due to limited mobility, until her grandchild visits and gives her a conch shell that carries the sound of the sea — setting off a special summer adventure.

The performance promises to captivate young audiences with vivid staging that features a fantastical seascape, warm and cheerful music, and the crowd-pleasing appearance of a giant whale.

There will be two showings — at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. — each running approximately 75 minutes.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 2 p.m. through Ticket Link or the Gimcheon Arts Center website. Gimcheon residents are eligible for a 30 percent discount, while families with multiple children in Gimcheon qualify for a 40 percent discount.
