Jeon Uk-min, the younger brother of actor Jeon So-min, has come forward to clarify remarks he made about his sister's earnings after they were picked up by news outlets.

On Tuesday, Jeon posted a lengthy statement and video on his Instagram, saying he had seen his video turned into a news article.

"It goes without saying that my sister's money is not my money," he wrote, "but I never said I had not received help from her."

He added that some maliciously written articles had distorted his intended message. "Seeing the story conveyed differently from what I meant makes me think how hard this must be for her, and I feel deeply sorry," he wrote.

Jeon said he had always believed it was his role, as the eldest son, to support and provide for the family. "But I have not been fulfilling that role properly, and my sister has instead been shouldering much of that responsibility," he said.

"That is what weighs on me most and what I feel most sorry about," he wrote, adding that he hoped to work hard enough to become a reliable son and brother who could take care of his sister and family.

He said the video he had made as part of that effort had been reported on with unverified information in a way that was hurting his family. "I would be grateful if unverified matters were not used to hurt me, my sister or our family," he said.

The video he shared alongside the statement showed scenes from his daily life — finishing a meal, getting ready to go out, putting on a helmet and heading out for a delivery shift.

Jeon had earlier shared updates on social media showing him working delivery jobs while pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. He said his sister's fame had given him several television appearances that sparked that ambition, but that breaking into the industry had proved difficult.

Jeon Uk-min previously appeared on SBS's "Running Man" in a family special as Jeon So-min's brother, and has also made appearances on Channel A's "Cheonhajeiljangsа," a wrestling competition program.
