Dalseong-gun in Daegu held a joint public-private campaign Monday at Hyeonpung Baengnyeon Dokkaebi Market to promote heat wave safety guidelines amid the ongoing extreme heat.

County officials and members of the Safety Monitor Volunteer Corps' Dalseong-gun chapter walked through the market that day — a traditional market day — to share six key heat wave safety guidelines with merchants and residents.

About 25 volunteers and county officials took part in the campaign.

Participants advised the public to check weather conditions, avoid outdoor activities during midday, minimize skin exposure, rest in cool places, drink plenty of water and check on neighbors' well-being. They also handed out promotional materials and bottled water.

Hyundai Mobis' Daegu electrification factory donated 600 sports drinks, which were distributed to heat-vulnerable residents and market visitors.

Dalseong County Chief Choi Jae-hun said minimizing heat wave damage requires not only efforts from government agencies but also active participation from each resident. "I urge everyone to follow the six safety guidelines in their daily lives — avoid outdoor activities during midday and make sure to drink enough water," he said.
