North Gyeongsang Health College in Gimcheon announced Tuesday that it has successfully completed a certified elderly care training course for middle-aged job seekers, held as part of the RISE (Regional Innovation System and Education) project.

The program was designed to strengthen the reemployment skills and social participation of middle-aged adults while training specialized care workers to meet local community needs.

The 30-hour course ran from July 7 to Aug. 7 at classrooms on the college campus, with 20 participants — primarily unemployed individuals — taking part.

Participants received field-oriented instruction combining theory and hands-on practice, building the foundational knowledge and practical skills required for elderly care work.

The curriculum covered understanding elderly care, the physical and psychological characteristics of older adults, daily living support services, emergency response and safety management, protection of elderly rights, and case management practice — all areas of high practical value in care settings.

College President Lee Eun-jik said the institution would continue offering lifelong vocational education programs that reflect local demand, reinforcing its role as a university that grows alongside the community.
