CJ Olive Networks is accelerating its push into AI transformation (AX) for the manufacturing sector, aiming to support AX adoption in manufacturing and logistics through its AI logistics platform and steadily expand its roster of completed deployments.

The company announced Tuesday that it has successfully completed installation of a next-generation warehouse management system (WMS) at HD Hyundai Electric's Cheongju Distribution Campus.

The Cheongju Distribution Campus, which began operation in December last year, is a next-generation smart production facility spanning about 82,500 square meters — roughly the size of 12 soccer fields — that integrates production, design and logistics functions. The campus manufactures more than 50,000 types of distribution equipment, including air circuit breakers (ACB), vacuum circuit breakers (VCB) and molded-case circuit breakers (MCCB).

Through the new system, CJ Olive Networks connected enterprise resource planning (ERP), a manufacturing execution system (MES), a warehouse control system (WCS), logistics automation equipment and external partner systems into a single platform, enabling real-time, data-driven integrated control.

The company also applied an integrated control dashboard, intelligent task management (WAVE), interface standardization and user-centered screens.

The system links to a range of logistics automation equipment — including autonomous mobile robots (AMR), automatic case-handling robots (ACR) and logistics shuttles — and manages the entire process on a data-driven basis, from materials receiving and depalletizing through line delivery to finished-goods shipment.

The project completed an operational framework for the integrated management of production, logistics and equipment data, the company said, and also laid the groundwork for AI-based logistics advancement and global expansion.

HD Hyundai Electric expects the new system to give it full visibility across its logistics flow and establish an "intelligent logistics operating foundation" spanning materials receiving through finished-goods shipment.

"This goes beyond simply building a logistics system — it is the starting point for AI-based manufacturing logistics AX transformation," said Song Won-cheol, head of smart logistics and factory operations at CJ Olive Networks. "Drawing on the digital transformation experience we have accumulated in logistics and manufacturing, we will continue to support our customers in strengthening their global competitiveness."

Meanwhile, CJ Olive Networks is throwing its full weight behind winning new AX contracts and expanding its external customer base, leveraging its AI logistics platform capabilities. Business results are already materializing. Driven by AX project expansion — including next-generation ERP and AI factory initiatives — the company posted sales of 254.5 billion won ($179 million) and operating profit of 20 billion won in the second quarter of this year, with sales up 29 percent and operating profit up 16 percent on cost efficiencies.
