Shin Jae-ho, director of the film "I'm Your Man," has been reported to police by the production company on charges of obstruction of business and breach of fiduciary duty.

On Monday, Shin posted on Instagram expressing disbelief at the situation. "After all I've been through, to be reported by the production company for 'obstructing business' on a film I directed and invested in myself — is this self-obstruction? Something good must be about to happen," he wrote. A photo attached to the post showed a police summons notice.

According to film industry sources, production company Baessine Production filed the complaint with police the same day. The company claims Shin damaged the film — which was being prepared for submission to the Busan International Film Festival — by posting a rough cut online, including on YouTube.

Shin received a summons from Seoul's Gangnam Police Station Investigation Team 20 through the Korean National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters. He is scheduled to appear at Gangnam Police Station at 2 p.m. on Aug. 18 for questioning.

Meanwhile, Shin has taken down all rough-cut footage he had posted on YouTube and other social media. He also said he would refrain from uploading any further material and would allow the production company to proceed with post-production and the film's release.

"I'm Your Man" is a black comedy inspired by the true story of a housewives' gambling ring. The film depicts the conflict between a mother who was once a key member of the ring and her son, a homicide detective. The cast includes Lee Ji-hoon, Moon Hee-kyung, Bang Eun-hee, Choi Yun-young, Kim Ki-bang and Jung Ho-bin.

The film was selected last year for the general category of the Busan Film Commission's "2025 Busan Production Company Feature Film Support Project," receiving 300 million won ($211,000) in production funding. Shin also contributed his own money to the production. The rough cut posted on YouTube surpassed 100,000 views.
