The National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) and the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) will hold the 9th Korea-India Engineering Workshop online Tuesday.

The workshop will focus on creative computing and next-generation IT innovation, with discussions on expanding bilateral exchanges in technology, talent and startups.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by Son Hyun-il, head of Krafton's India operations, and Santanu Chaudhary, vice president of INAE and dean of the School of Advanced Computing at Ashoka University.

Son will compare India's rapidly growing interactive media market with those of South Korea and the broader global market, and outline the structural shifts and growth potential of India's digital and gaming sectors.

The first session will feature presentations by P.J. Narayanan, former director of the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad, and Lee Ji-hyun, a professor at KAIST's Graduate School of Culture Technology. They will address the relationship between technology and the arts and how the creative landscape is evolving in the age of AI.

A panel discussion will follow, with Sriram Rajamani, corporate vice president of Microsoft Core AI; Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, a professor at the Indian Statistical Institute; Lee Jin-woo, a professor at KAIST's Graduate School of Culture Technology; and Kim Ju-seop, a professor in the Department of Art and Technology at Sogang University. The panel will explore the convergence of engineering and the arts and human-centered innovation.

The second session will include presentations by K. Ananth Krishnan, former chief technology officer of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Lim Jung-wook, co-representative of Startup Alliance, on IT innovation and talent exchange between the two countries and the potential for connecting their startup ecosystems.

NAEK and INAE have held annual workshops since 2017 to sustain academic, industrial and technological cooperation between the two countries' engineering communities.

At a bilateral summit last April, South Korea and India adopted a joint strategic vision to deepen their special strategic partnership over the next five years (2026–2030) and formed an industrial cooperation committee, stepping up cooperation across a broad range of areas.

Through this workshop, NAEK aims to expand its network of experts in creative computing and next-generation IT, and to identify concrete opportunities for collaboration spanning technology, talent and startups.
