Yeungnam University of Science and Technology held an industry-academia cooperation forum Friday to support the employment of marriage migrant women as care workers, at Cheonma Square Convention Hall and Cheonma History Hall on campus.

About 60 people attended, including representatives from the university, the Nam-gu, Suseong-gu and Seo-gu family centers, the Suseong Women's Re-employment Center, local care facilities, and trainees from a care worker training institute.

The event opened with a cooperative employment agreement signing ceremony at Cheonma History Hall on the second floor of Cheonma Square.

Eight care facilities signed the agreement: the Dalseo-gu Senior Welfare Center, Daeduk Silver Town, Muryangsujon Senior Care Facility, Buyong Rehabilitation Day Care Center, Vision Home Care Welfare Center, Seonwoo Rehabilitation Day Care, Wondae Home Senior Welfare Center and Woori Care Home.

Through the agreements, the university and the participating facilities established a cooperative framework to help marriage migrant women trainees find jobs at local care institutions after completing their coursework.

The forum then moved to the first-floor convention hall, where President Lee Jae-yong delivered congratulatory remarks and certificates were presented to 27 trainees who had completed the care worker training program.

The university presented a certificate of completion and a study support grant to representative trainee Lee Ji-eun, and offered words of encouragement to all trainees who had diligently finished the program.

"We will continue to support job placement and on-site adjustment so that graduates can work with confidence in care settings, drawing on the skills they have built through this training," President Lee said.
