Gyeongbuk Technopark announced Monday it will launch the "2026 Smart Social Service Pilot Project" to address a shortage of care workers driven by an aging population and to build a digitally based smart care system.
The initiative comprises two separate projects: one involving North Gyeongsang Province, Sangju and Gyeongbuk Technopark, and another involving North Gyeongsang Province, Yecheon-gun and Gyeongbuk Technopark.
The Sangju project will have the Sangju Community Welfare Center serve as the service provider, offering customized health management services to welfare center users that integrate physical and mental health care.
The project aims to build a North Gyeongsang-style smart health management social service model by linking the province's existing welfare resources with AI agent wellness technology. Motion Advisor Co. is participating as the corporate partner.
The Yecheon-gun project aims to demonstrate and distribute an affordable AI smart bed designed to prevent secondary complications in bedridden patients while preserving their human dignity.
The project also seeks to reduce the physical workload of care workers and establish a "North Gyeongsang-style smart care standard model" that can be integrated into a community-wide care network. Gyeongdo Care Hospital and Nurion Co. are participating as the service provider and corporate partner, respectively.
"This pilot project is a starting point for responding to the challenges of an aging society and a shortage of care workers," said Ha In-seong, president of Gyeongbuk Technopark. "We will actively support North Gyeongsang Province in leading the smart social service sector and work to build care services that residents can feel directly in their daily lives."
