Yoon Sang-hwan, a senior local government official, will be inaugurated as the 32nd deputy governor of Cheongdo-gun in North Gyeongsang Province on Monday, the county announced Sunday.

Yoon will skip a formal inauguration ceremony and move directly into reviewing county affairs to share the burden facing residents amid a prolonged heat wave and drought.

"I feel a profound sense of responsibility to be appointed to Cheongdo-gun, my hometown," Yoon said. "I will devote every effort to building a great Cheongdo together with its residents."

Yoon is a native of Cheongdo and graduated from Cheongdo Iseo High School, the Department of Public Administration at Daegu University, and the Graduate School of Public Administration at Kyungpook National University. He has held a range of key positions in North Gyeongsang Province, including director of the provincial culture and industry division and planning and events director of the APEC Preparatory Support Team.

He drew particular recognition for his planning skills and drive in helping deliver a successful APEC summit, earning a presidential commendation.
