Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, has praised South Korea's shipbuilding technology and craftsmanship.

Guilfoyle posted on X, formerly Twitter, that it was an honor to attend a ship launching ceremony at Samsung Heavy Industries, calling the vessel "a symbol of Korean shipbuilding craftsmanship." She added, "When we build together with our allies, we all rise together."

Guilfoyle attended the launching ceremony at Samsung's Geoje shipyard on June 27. The event drew representatives from Chacós Group, a major Greek shipping company, and ExxonMobil, a US energy major. She took a close look at the massive vessels under construction and the production process, expressing strong interest in the competitiveness of South Korea's shipbuilding industry.

"This vessel is proof of what happens when South Korea's exceptional engineering meets Greek maritime ambition," Guilfoyle said, describing "a bustling shipyard, sailors setting out for world trade, and nations standing proudly side by side, united not just by contracts but by shared values and purpose." Her remarks underscored the three-way partnership among the United States, South Korea and Greece.

She also attended a signing ceremony in May for an expanded business cooperation agreement between Hanwha Ocean and ONEX Group, Greece's largest shipbuilding and defense conglomerate.

Guilfoyle is a lawyer and former Fox News broadcaster who was once engaged to Trump Jr. She is also the ex-wife of Gavin Newsom, the California governor seen as a potential Democratic presidential contender. Trump nominated Guilfoyle — whose public split from his son came last year — as ambassador to Greece, and the Senate confirmed her in July. Trump Jr. married socialite Bettina Anderson in the Bahamas in May.
