Seoul's Seocho-gu said it will run a leisure and ecological experience program called "Yangjae Stream Night Slow Tour" every Friday and Saturday along Yangjae Stream from Sept. 4 through Oct. 31, offering residents an autumn evening immersion in urban nature.
The program's name evokes the idea of taking a leisurely stroll along the stream. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the autumn night scenery, connect with nature in the heart of the city and learn about the importance of ecological conservation.
Participants will ride a 14-seat electric shuttle through various points along Yangjae Stream while listening to ecological commentary from expert instructors. The program features six activities: a raft ride, lantern-making and floating, sparkler fireworks, a media-glass story display, telescope stargazing, and a guided tour of Yangjae Stream's bridges and their stories — all designed to give visitors a special autumn night memory.
Landscape lighting — including garden lamps and reed illuminations — will also be installed around the raft boarding and disembarking areas, the tour vehicles and the rafts themselves, enhancing the nighttime scenery along Yangjae Stream and adding to the autumn evening atmosphere.
Since the program's debut in 2024, every showing has sold out. The district said it plans to conduct advance safety checks and strengthen its safety management systems again this year given the nighttime nature of the tour.
The tour runs free of charge every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is open to Seocho-gu residents and people who work within the district, with a maximum of 20 participants per session based on raft capacity. Reservations for September sessions open Monday on a first-come, first-served basis by calling the Seocho-gu Office's Garden and Leisure Division; October reservations open Sept. 10.
"On cool autumn evenings, I hope you will come out and slowly enjoy the nature of Yangjae Stream with your family, loved ones and friends," district mayor Jeon Seong-su said. "We will continue to expand diverse ecological experience programs that blend nature with everyday life, building a Seocho where people can feel both the joy of walking and the value of the environment."
