North Gyeongsang Health College held a simulation nursing training session for 21 working nurses from Gimcheon Jeil Hospital on Wednesday at its on-campus SHINE Simulation Center, focusing on patients with acute respiratory distress and endotracheal intubation.

The eight-hour program ran from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and was structured to take participants through theory instruction, nursing skills practice and high-fidelity simulation in sequence.

In the morning session, participants were divided into two groups and received instruction on assessing acute respiratory distress patients in disaster scenarios, as well as nursing care for patients undergoing endotracheal intubation and extubation.

The afternoon session moved into hands-on intubation skills practice, followed by simulation exercises covering nursing care for patients with acute respiratory distress and endotracheal intubation.

"By assessing the condition of acute respiratory distress patients and practicing endotracheal intubation care directly, I was able to build a concrete understanding of the clinical judgment and nursing process needed in emergency situations," one of the participating nurses said.

Lee Eun-jik, president of North Gyeongsang Health College, said he hoped the training would help working nurses build greater confidence in handling emergency situations and in their day-to-day clinical practice.
