Two men were stabbed to death at a residence in Seoul's Jungnang-gu, and police have launched an investigation.

The Jungnang Police Station said Saturday it is investigating the deaths of two men in their 60s, believed to have been acquaintances, who were found stabbed at a house in Myeongmok-dong, Jungnang-gu, at around 4 a.m.

Firefighters responded to a report that one man had collapsed with a stab wound to the neck and another with a wound to the abdomen, and found both men in cardiac arrest inside a room.

One of the two had still been conscious at the time and alerted an acquaintance, prompting the emergency call. Paramedics performed CPR and transported both men to a hospital, but neither survived.

Police are reviewing nearby closed-circuit television footage and canvassing for witnesses. No suspect other than the two deceased men has been identified so far.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the two men stabbed each other during a dispute, while not ruling out the involvement of a third party.

Police recovered one weapon at the scene believed to have been used in the attack.

"We are not in a position to determine who was the perpetrator and who was the victim," a police official said. "It has not been confirmed who struck first or whether it was a mutual attack."

Police have requested autopsies from the National Forensic Service and plan to determine the full circumstances based on the results.
