Prosecutors are set to announce their sentencing recommendation for a person identified only as A, who is on trial on charges of repeatedly stalking actor Hwang Jung-min.

According to Hwang's agency, Sam Company, the Goyang Branch of Uijeongbu District Court will hold the closing arguments hearing in the stalking case on Tuesday.

Hwang and the defendant have been locked in a legal dispute. On July 29, Sam Company said "the person behind the malicious online posts targeting Hwang Jung-min is the suspect in a stalking crime who has persistently harassed him."

The agency said Hwang had filed a criminal complaint against the individual, adding that the court had imposed restraining orders and other provisional measures against the suspect on three separate occasions and issued a summary order recognizing the stalking charges, imposing a fine of 3 million won ($2,110).

The defendant contested the summary order and requested a formal trial, and has also filed a 200 million won civil lawsuit against Hwang seeking damages.

Hwang's side has maintained there was no physical relationship of any kind, but the defendant has claimed otherwise, saying, "If one-sided unwanted contact counts as physical contact, it began at the airport, and on our first meeting the contact continued throughout the market alley on the way to catch a taxi after leaving the bar."
