Kim Min-jae of FC Bayern Munich has shared his thoughts on what qualities the next South Korea national team head coach should have.

A video titled "Meeting Min-jae after the World Cup... (Feat. Kim Min-jae, FC Bayern)" was posted Friday on "Jimjongkuk," a YouTube channel run by Kim Jong-kook.

The clip features Kim, who traveled to Jeju Island for the "Audi Football Summit 2026" preseason friendly between Bayern Munich and Jeju SK FC.

South Korea currently has no head coach after Hong Myung-bo stepped down following the team's group-stage exit at the World Cup. The Korea Football Association plans to manage the six A-match fixtures scheduled from September through November under an interim coaching arrangement before formally beginning the process of appointing a permanent head coach.

The conversation naturally turned to who should take charge of the national team next.

When Kim Jong-kook asked what style of coach he would like to see, Kim Min-jae said, "Personally, I'd like someone who has a clear vision of the football they want to play."

He added, "Someone who can point out when things aren't going according to the tactics, and who has multiple patterns — the defensive shape is set to a certain degree, and coaches communicate that well, but having multiple attacking patterns so that when one avenue is blocked, there's another direction to go."

Kim Jong-kook then asked whether that kind of tactical structure makes it easier to play, to which Kim replied, "I think that would be the case for the forwards, wouldn't it?"

The two also discussed the hydration breaks introduced at this year's World Cup.

"Personally, I liked it — it felt like getting water right when you were about to collapse," Kim said, reflecting on the tournament. "The second match was physically grueling as well. Doing man-marking defense the whole time made it even harder."

He added, "There were moments when I felt like I was about to pass out, and being able to drink water and get a rest break was great. Personally, I was a fan of the hydration breaks."
