A regular performance by the Yeongdeungpo District Children's Choir

Yeongdeungpo-gu is recruiting new members for its district children's choir, the Yeongdeungpo District Boys and Girls Chorus, open to local children with musical talent and passion.

Founded in 2019, the chorus has maintained an active performance schedule, taking part each year in regular concerts and national choral competitions.

Selected members will develop their musical abilities and stage experience through vocal training and performance instruction, building teamwork, confidence and well-rounded character.

Eight spots are available. Applicants must be between 7 and 14 years old and either live in Yeongdeungpo-gu or attend a school within the district. Any child with a passion for singing and performing is welcome to apply.

Interested children may download an application form from the notices and announcements board on the Yeongdeungpo-gu website and submit it by Aug. 21, either in person at the district office's Culture and Arts Division, by registered mail or by email to the officer in charge.

New members will be selected through a document review followed by a live audition, with final results announced in late August. The audition is scheduled for Aug. 26; shortlisted applicants will be notified individually along with their document review results. Membership terms run for two years.

Selected members will attend regular rehearsals every Wednesday and Saturday and represent Yeongdeungpo-gu on stage at regular concerts, national choral competitions and other performances.

Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin said she looks forward to strong interest and participation from children across the district. "We will do our utmost to raise the profile of Seoul's only designated cultural city and make culture a part of every resident's daily life," she said.
