Seocho-gu in Seoul held an event Thursday to gift longevity portrait sessions to national merit holders ahead of the 81st Liberation Day. The district office said the ceremony, titled "To You Who Made Today," took place at the Seocho-gu Veterans Hall with sponsorship from local company Hoban Group.
The event was organized to express gratitude for the sacrifices and service of national merit holders and to promote a culture of honoring veterans in everyday life.
The district handled everything from identifying and recommending participants to setting up the venue, and invited more than 30 national merit holders who are members of local veterans organizations to have their portraits taken and receive the district's thanks.
Hoban Group joined the effort through volunteer services and financial support. The company's employee volunteer corps, "Hoban Love Sharing," participated in portrait photography, hair and makeup services, and companionship activities. Employees also pooled voluntary donations to cover the cost of printing and framing the portraits, and prepared refreshments and commemorative gifts for the occasion.
"I am delighted that we were able to join hands with a local company to express our gratitude to the national merit holders who built the Republic of Korea we have today," district mayor Jeon Seong-su said. "We will continue to do our utmost to honor national merit holders and expand support so that veterans and their families can feel proud."
