CJ CheilJedang announced Thursday the launch of Food AI 360, an AI platform that supports the entire product cycle from trend analysis and product planning to consumer response monitoring.
Food AI 360 is a proprietary marketing intelligence solution developed jointly by the company's food marketing division and its AX/DX unit. It consolidates trend tracking, concept development and evaluation, and market response monitoring into a single platform.
CJ CheilJedang first deployed the platform in its domestic business division in June last year, then selected the United States as the second market, completing the rollout there by late June this year. A "Concept Studio" feature translates forecast trends into product ideas and generates visual proposals covering product direction, characteristics and packaging. AI-based evaluation lets the company review anticipated consumer reactions, strengths and areas for improvement before a product launches.
The matcha Hetbahn rice cup released in June was developed using the platform. CJ CheilJedang confirmed the staying power of the matcha trend and shaped a product concept around consumer demand for healthy ingredients combined with convenience. The Bibigo Salmon Steak, which surpassed 1.4 million units sold within six months of its launch, followed the same process — reflecting a shift in protein consumption toward white meat and seafood, and a broadening of consumer preference from mackerel to salmon and other fish.
CJ CheilJedang has recently extended its Hetbahn, Dasida and Bibigo brands into snack and beverage categories. Food AI 360 is set to roll out in Japan, Europe and other markets after its US debut this year. "We will continue to rapidly translate consumer needs into differentiated products and accelerate the growth of K-food in global markets," a company official said.
