An anonymous resident of Oeoseo-myeon in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, donated 830 kilograms of white rice worth 3 million won ($2,100) to help struggling neighbors, the city announced Thursday. The rice will be distributed to low-income households and senior centers in the area.
"I wanted to do something, however small, for neighbors who are likely feeling the strain even more acutely when everyone is having a hard time," the donor said.
An Hong-yun, head of Oeoseo-myeon, thanked the donor for the contribution. "I sincerely thank the anonymous resident for putting their generosity into action for those in need," An said, adding that he hoped such acts of sharing would continue.
