The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a college admissions briefing Saturday at its Haengbok Hall, targeting first- and second-year high school students preparing for the 2028 admissions cycle, the office announced Thursday.
The briefing will be divided into four sessions. The first will analyze the major trends in the 2028 college admissions implementation plan, outlining the overall direction of the overhaul and its key changes.
Sessions two and three will examine individual universities' admissions changes in detail under the theme "University-by-University Analysis." The fourth and final session will recap the highlights of the preceding three sessions and take questions from attendees.
The 2028 admissions cycle is set to bring sweeping changes to evaluation methods and the weighting of factors across admissions tracks, driven by the full rollout of the high school credit system, the expansion of achievement-based grading and the introduction of an integrated college entrance exam.
The education office organized the briefing to break down the admissions implementation plan — released in late April — in a way that is easy for students and parents to understand.
The event is open to about 500 participants, including first- and second-year high school students, parents and teachers. No advance registration is required; attendees may sign up on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue on the day.
"Beyond this briefing, we continue to provide college admissions information and counseling to students and parents on an ongoing basis through our admissions counselors, specialist college-guidance teachers and the Daegu College Admissions and Career Information Center," an office official said.
