Chilgok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has overhauled its online portal for water and sewage billing services to make them more accessible to residents, the county announced Thursday, saying a pilot operation is now underway.

During the pilot period, the county will gather user feedback and operational data to refine the system before launching full service in line with the August billing cycle.

The previous water and sewage billing website offered only limited functions — fee inquiries and credit card payment registration — leaving residents with few options for managing their accounts online.

The new portal allows users to check charges and make payments in real time, as well as apply for automatic bank transfers and credit card debits, and sign up for billing notifications via text message or KakaoTalk — tasks that previously required an in-person visit or a phone call.

The portal supports both PC and mobile environments, enabling access anytime and anywhere. Users can also find the KakaoTalk service through a simple search without adding the county as a friend, with the county saying the focus was on delivering resident-centered, everyday administrative services.

"Smart administration is about adding useful functions while reducing inconvenience for users," county chief Kim Jae-wook said. "We will continue to expand accessible administrative services that residents can genuinely feel in their daily lives."
