Production floor nearly doubles to 15,183 sq. meters — largest Sealy site in Asia

Integrated operations cover raw-material inspection to shipping; exports to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore

Record 88.9 billion won in 2025 sales; spring factory planned for 2028

Sealy has completed a new factory in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, built at a cost of about 40 billion won ($28 million), nearly doubling its production floor space and positioning South Korea as a key manufacturing hub for exports across Asia.

The company announced Wednesday that the new plant in Ogeum-dong, Yeoju — the largest Sealy mattress production facility in Asia — sits on a 29,990-square-meter site. Its production area, which includes space for raw-material management, manufacturing and quality inspection, spans 15,183 square meters, roughly 1.9 times the 7,920 square meters of the previous factory in Ganam-eup, Yeoju.

The new facility operates as an integrated system, handling everything from raw-material inspection and mattress manufacturing to quality and safety testing, finished-goods storage and shipping under one roof. The setup links production, quality control and logistics functions to allow faster responses to shifts in both domestic and overseas orders.

The manufacturing process applies Sealy's Posturepedic mattress support technology alongside skilled handcraft work. The company will also maintain a build-to-order production model rather than stockpiling large inventories.

The investment was driven by Sealy's global parent Somni Group and Sealy Australia, which oversees the Asia-Pacific region. The new plant cost about 40 billion won. The decision to expand the South Korean facility into an Asian export hub reflected the local unit's growth trajectory and manufacturing capabilities, the company said.

Sealy Korea opened its first in-house factory in Ganam-eup, Yeoju, in November 2016, shifting from contract manufacturing to direct control over quality and production. A decade after that first factory began operating, rising domestic sales prompted the company to relocate and expand production to the new Ogeum-dong plant.

Financial results have kept pace with the expansion. According to filings on the Financial Supervisory Service's DART system, Sealy Korea posted sales of 88.9 billion won in 2025, up 9.8 percent from 81 billion won the previous year. Operating profit rose about 5 percent over the same period, from 13.9 billion won to 14.6 billion won. Both figures are all-time highs for the company.

Sealy Korea's annual sales stood at 33.8 billion won in 2019 and climbed to 39.3 billion won in 2020, 53.5 billion won in 2021, 61.2 billion won in 2022 and 67.6 billion won in 2023. The 2.6-fold increase over six years puts annual sales of 100 billion won within reach.

Products from the Yeoju plant will supply the domestic market as well as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The company plans to gradually expand production of models tailored to the mattress specifications and consumer preferences of each market.

Sealy also plans to build a spring production factory on a site adjacent to the new plant, with completion targeted for 2028. The addition will give the company greater in-house capacity for a key component it currently sources through a mix of external procurement and internal processing, strengthening both supply chain stability and quality control.

"The Yeoju factory is a core hub that embodies Sealy's global quality standards and Sealy Korea's future growth strategy," said Yoon Jong-hyo, chief executive of Sealy Korea. "We will develop South Korea into a production hub connecting Asia's major markets and continue to advance our capabilities in manufacturing, logistics and quality control, as well as our product portfolio."
