"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has shattered the all-time North American opening-weekend box office record previously held by "Avengers: Endgame."

According to the AP, Sony Pictures announced Monday that the film earned $360 million at the North American box office over its opening weekend from July 30 to Aug. 2.

The figure surpassed Sony Pictures' own earlier estimate of $355 million and topped the previous opening-weekend record of $357 million set by "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019.

The film also pulled in $932 million from international markets over the same weekend, underscoring its global appeal.

The records do not stop there. Entertainment trade outlet Deadline reported that "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" also set an all-time high in North American advance ticket sales at $150 million. Preview screenings on July 30 brought in $72 million, another all-time record.

The film also posted record opening-weekend figures in France, India, Brazil, Spain, Peru, Colombia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Turkey, Ecuador and Belgium.

Perhaps most notably, the film has broken a years-long slump for superhero movies. Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, said, "Records are made to be broken, but we'll take pride in holding this one while we do."
