The Yeongsan River Basin Regional Environment Office (director Kim Young-min) will hold an on-site briefing for managers and drivers in the hazardous chemical transport industry Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hidden Bay Hotel in Yeosu.
The briefing is designed to explain key changes to the Chemical Substances Control Act, which took effect in August last year, in terms relevant to transport operators at the Yeosu Industrial Complex and similar sites. The aim is to improve workers' understanding of the law and their capacity to prevent chemical accidents.
Topics will cover the business license application and change-of-license procedures for transport operators, whether subcontracting arrangements involving chartered vehicles require reporting and how to file such reports, how to submit online applications through the "Hwagwanbeop Minjeon 24" portal, and chemical accident cases that occurred during hazardous material transport along with prevention guidelines.
The office plans to walk attendees through the business licensing and subcontracting reporting regime using real-world case examples — areas that generate repeated inquiries in the field — and will hold a question-and-answer session to help participants apply the relevant rules to their day-to-day work.
