Eastar Jet announced Monday it is launching an open recruitment drive for cabin crew, seeking about 30 candidates in a proactive hiring push ahead of planned aircraft additions and route expansion.
The selection process consists of five stages: a document review, a situational-response interview, a physical fitness test, an executive interview and a pre-employment medical checkup. The situational-response interview presents candidates with hypothetical scenarios to assess their problem-solving approach and flexible thinking. The physical fitness test — covering an endurance run, back-strength measurement and a decibel test — evaluates the baseline fitness required to handle in-flight emergencies.
Applicants with a nursing major or relevant certifications will receive bonus points, and those with strong proficiency in Japanese, Chinese or other foreign languages will be given preference.
Applications are open from 10 a.m. Monday through Aug. 29 via the Eastar Jet recruitment website. Successful candidates will join the airline as intern cabin crew in October.
Since March last year, Eastar Jet has been the only domestic carrier to include a decibel measurement in its physical fitness test alongside the situational-response interview format.
"We plan to select candidates who are well suited to the cabin crew's core role as in-flight safety personnel," an Eastar Jet official said. "There is no age limit — anyone who scores highly across each stage of the process is eligible."
Meanwhile, to meet rising travel demand during the peak season, Eastar Jet has added flights between August and October: 144 Incheon-Tokyo flights, 144 Incheon-Fukuoka flights, 58 Busan-Fukuoka flights and 56 Busan-Taipei flights.
