Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province hosted the "Gyeongbuk+22 Economic One-Team Strategy Meeting — Sangju Day," organized by the provincial government, at the city hall conference room on Friday.

About 20 people attended the meeting, including Yang Geum-hee, North Gyeongsang Province's vice governor for economic affairs, other provincial officials, Sangju Mayor An Jae-min, and department heads from the city's economic and industrial divisions.

Sangju City put forward several key economic proposals at the meeting: support for developing a national food industry cluster and attracting major food companies; provincial policy backing and coordination for construction of a food technology research support center focused on smart retail; corporate investment support tied to tourism and leisure infrastructure development in the Donam district; promotion of sports tourism as part of a sports mega-city initiative; and support for building an integrated veterans' hall.

The development of the national food cluster and the recruitment of large food companies are central to securing Sangju's future growth engines. The city plans to work closely with North Gyeongsang Province to foster a nationally significant food industry hub and actively attract corporate investment.

"Based on close cooperation with North Gyeongsang Province, we will do our utmost to attract investment and nurture new growth industries, building a city where businesses thrive," Mayor An said.

Vice Governor Yang described Sangju as "a city with strong growth potential in food, tourism and sports," adding that the province would work as one team with Sangju to actively support development of the national food cluster, corporate investment attraction and other initiatives to secure the city's future growth engines.
