Seoul's Songpa-gu announced Wednesday it will host the "Better Walkable City International Symposium" at the Songpa Culture and Arts Center on Friday afternoon, bringing together walkable-city experts from around the world.

Songpa-gu is developing a 6,700-square-meter street garden near Garak Market Intersection as part of its ongoing Songpa-daero Premium Street project.

The symposium is co-hosted by the Better Urban Design Forum (PUDA) and the Architecture and Urban Research Institute (AURI), with Songpa-gu as a supporting sponsor. Experts from Poland, China, Japan and Oman, along with specialists from domestic research institutes, will present best practices and policy directions for walkable cities, followed by a general discussion.

Songpa-gu District Chief Seo Gang-seok said he hopes the symposium will serve as an opportunity to share the experiences and insights of global experts and take the district's walkable-city policy to the next level.
