Hanwha Aqua Planet Yeosu has launched a summer promotion called "Summer Cool Night," extending its operating hours until 9 p.m. through Aug. 17 to meet demand during the peak vacation season.
The aquarium has bolstered its lineup of time-specific programs to cater to indoor tourism in the summer heat. Daytime visitors can take part in ecology programs offering close encounters with marine life, while evening guests can enjoy underwater performances and a nighttime docent tour — giving visitors a full day of varied experiences.
The aquarium has also expanded its summer-only ecology programs. Offerings include "Beluga Photo Time," where visitors can take commemorative photos with beluga dolphins, as well as feeding sessions with Baikal seals, an ecological briefing on sand tiger sharks and a piranha ecology talk. Each program is led by a professional aquarist who explains the characteristics and habitats of the marine animals while engaging directly with visitors.
A customer participation event has also been prepared: visitors who purchase tickets at the on-site box office are guaranteed a prize through a scratch-card giveaway.
From Aug. 1 through Aug. 9, the aquarium will give away prizes worth a combined 15 million won ($10,200) in partnership with Dreamy, Sunshloop, Spigen and Ginivi. Prizes include a robot vacuum cleaner, a food-waste processor, household goods and summer seasonal items.
Evening programming offers a distinctly different atmosphere. An underwater performance, "New EVE," has been added at 7 p.m., followed by "Ocean Life Dinner," a main-tank ecology program. At 7:40 p.m., a professional docent leads a nighttime tour focused on the nocturnal habits and behaviors of marine creatures, offering a side of the aquarium rarely seen during daytime hours.
A discount promotion is available for evening visitors. Through Naver Reservations, guests can purchase a buy-one-get-one-free ticket valid for entry after 6 p.m. Advance sales began July 22.
"We will continue to present a diverse range of programs so that families, friends and couples can create special memories together in a cool indoor setting during the hot summer months," an Aqua Planet Yeosu official said.
