Two Gyeongju-bound lanes of a four-lane road expansion project connecting Sinhyeon Intersection in Sinhyeon-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan, and the former Gangdong Middle School site in Jeongja-dong will open temporarily Monday.

The road expansion project, which began in 2024, involves widening a 1.5-kilometer stretch from 10 meters (two lanes) to 30 meters (four lanes) at a cost of 46.4 billion won ($31.3 million). The project also includes two bridges — Dalgok Bridge (68 meters long, 33 meters wide) and Juryeom Bridge (12.05 meters long).

When the full expansion is completed in December, it will establish road links to the Gangdong Sanha district urban development zone, Jeongja Port and the Gangdong coastal tourism complex, easing congestion during weekends and rush hours while boosting economic activity in the broader Gangdong area.
