hy announced Thursday that its microbiome brand MPRO has won the Brand & Communication Design category award at the Red Dot Design Award 2026.
The company was recognized for effectively embodying its brand values through the product's packaging. The design clearly distinguishes the product name, functional information and the bacterial strains used. A tablet graphic — the centerpiece of MPRO's dual-formulation design — is prominently displayed on the front.
The environmentally conscious container also contributed to the win. Last year, hy redesigned the container by eliminating the outer cap (4 grams) used on existing MPRO products and lightening the overall packaging, cutting annual plastic consumption by more than 105 tons.
"This is the result of capturing the product's functionality, sustainability and brand philosophy together," said Kwon Min-jeong, head of hy's Design Team 1. "We will continue to drive brand innovation with consumer experience and the environment in mind."
Meanwhile, MPRO is South Korea's first dual-formulation probiotic combining a tablet and a liquid. Its flagship product, MPRO Immunity, features HY7017, an immune-function probiotic independently developed by hy. Cumulative sales have reached about 300 million units.
