Gunwi-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Thursday it will replace 1,123 deteriorated building number plates at no cost to property owners, as part of an effort to improve road name address usability and the town's visual environment.
The project targets plates that have been in place for more than 10 years and have become difficult to read due to fading or physical damage.
The county selected replacement targets through on-site inspections and will cover reissuance fees with public funds, carrying out the replacements in stages with no financial burden on building owners.
Gunwi-gun has run an annual aging-plate replacement program since 2023 and plans to continue yearly maintenance to build a safer and more accessible address environment for residents.
"Replacing worn building number plates is an important project for providing accurate address information and ensuring the safety of county residents," a Gunwi-gun official said. "We will continue our ongoing maintenance work to create an address environment where anyone can easily find an address."
