The Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) announced Thursday that it has hired 69 additional senior consultants in partnership with the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Elderly, in line with the country's transition to a super-aged society and to support the economic independence of older workers.

HUG signed a senior internship MOU with the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Elderly in March last year to create jobs for older workers and hired 79 senior consultants at that time. With this latest round of hiring, the corporation has now recruited a total of 148 senior consultants.

The senior internship program is run by the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Elderly, which subsidizes participating companies' labor costs to encourage them to hire or retain workers aged 60 and older.

HUG has deployed senior internship staff in customer consultation roles to prevent service disruptions caused by staffing shortages, and decided to bring on additional senior consultants to improve satisfaction among walk-in customers.

The newly hired senior consultants will be assigned for one year across HUG's 27 sales offices nationwide, handling customer inquiries related to guarantee enrollment, guarantee fulfillment, debt repayment, jeonse fraud damage, and the Deundeun Jeonse program.

"Senior consultants are the first face customers see when they visit HUG," HUG President Choi In-ho said. "We will continue to improve the quality of our customer consultation service so that their wealth of experience helps us greet customers with greater warmth."
