More than 60 Daegu University students successfully completed a 120-kilometer trek along the East Coast of North Gyeongsang Province, finishing the five-day "2026 Sungsan Leadership East Coast National Trek" held from July 6 to 10 to mark the university's 70th anniversary.

Ahead of the march, a send-off ceremony was held July 2 at the Ungji Hall auditorium on campus, with university President Yun Jae-ung and Student Affairs Dean Park Tae-ho in attendance, as participants pledged to complete the route safely.

The group set off from Gujin Beach in Uljin on the morning of July 6, making their way along the East Coast through Hupo Port, Goraebul Beach in Yeongdeok, and the Hwajin and Chilpo beaches in Pohang.

Despite temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and a demanding route, participants shared water and kept pace with one another, with not a single person dropping out along the way.

On the final day, July 10, the students passed through Hwaran Seolhwa Village in Yeongcheon before arriving at Daegu University's Sarang Plaza, where they received certificates of completion to mark the end of the 120-kilometer journey.

Ahn Jin-young, a student who participated as a student representative, said the experience "will give me great confidence in my university life and future ahead."

President Yun said he applauded the passion and perseverance the students had shown "in this meaningful year of our 70th anniversary," adding that he hoped they would "grow into outstanding contributors to society, drawing on the sense of achievement gained from this march."
