Siheung, led by Mayor Lim Byeong-taek, is recruiting participants for two second-half public employment programs: the 2026 Second-Half Siheung-Type Public Job Project and the 2026 Second-Half Community Job Project.
Applications will be accepted July 20 through July 24. The Siheung-Type Public Job Project will take 34 participants, while the Community Job Project will accept 46. Applicants must submit their documents in person at the community administrative welfare center in their dong of residence within Siheung. Duplicate applications across the two programs, proxy submissions and postal submissions are not accepted.
Eligible applicants must be registered residents of Siheung as of the application date, aged 19 or older, unemployed or without regular income, capable of working, and from a household whose combined income does not exceed 60 percent of the median income standard and whose total assets are no more than 400 million won ($265,000). Foreign nationals holding a foreign registration number are also eligible. Those aged 65 or older will be directed first to the Senior Employment Program but may still apply and be selected if they wish to participate.
The work period runs from Sept. 2 through Nov. 27. Working hours are four to six hours per day, with an hourly wage of 10,320 won — the 2026 minimum wage — along with weekly and monthly leave allowances and enrollment in the four major social insurance programs.
Selection proceeds in two stages. The city's Job and Economy Division first evaluates each applicant using a scoring table that weighs eligibility criteria, assets, income and other factors to determine whether the applicant qualifies. Relevant program departments then conduct a second-round review to assess the skills and suitability required for the specific duties involved. Results will be posted on the city's website on Aug. 26, and individual notifications will be sent by text message to both successful and unsuccessful applicants.
