The Steel Promotion Committee of the Korea Iron & Steel Association announced Friday it will hold the "2026 Steel AI Video Advertisement Contest."

The contest calls for video advertisements of 30 seconds or less produced using AI. Participants may choose from four themes: steel that endlessly recycles, imagining a world without steel, steel that drives South Korea, and any topic freely related to steel.

Entries may be submitted individually or as a team, with up to four works per participant. Submissions will be accepted by email through Aug. 9.

The total purse is 18 million won ($12,000). The grand prize winner will receive 5 million won along with a certificate. A special prize will go to the three entries posted on personal social media that earn the highest view counts. All participants will receive a gift.

"We hope many outstanding works that capture the value of steel through fresh AI-driven ideas will be submitted," said Jang Yeong-sik, chairman of the Steel Promotion Committee. "We also hope this contest will serve as an opportunity to raise public attention to the steel industry."

The Steel Promotion Committee was established on Dec. 27, 1996, to promote the Korean steel industry and the quality of domestically produced steel. It currently has 11 member companies, including Hyundai Steel, Dongkuk Coated Metal, Posco, Dongkuk Steel Mill, Seah Holdings, KG Steel, Kiswire, TCC Steel and Husteel.

Meanwhile, the Korea Iron & Steel Association held a "Steel Industry CSO Safety and Health Forum" in April at a conference room in Osong and Sejong to improve safety management standards in the steel sector — which faces elevated serious-accident risks due to its high-temperature, heavy-load and large-equipment work environment — and to share best practices for building a safety culture and advancing accident prevention.
