People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo said Friday that "the tears of retail investors, Kosdaq in the 700s — this is the Lee Jae Myung administration's true livelihood report card," warning that "at this rate, the Lee Jae Myung administration will ultimately be force-liquidated and wiped out by the people."
Ahn made the remarks in a Facebook post, saying that on the day Kosdaq fell below the 800 mark, brokerages "mercilessly force-liquidated margin accounts — that is a margin call."
He added that force liquidation "happens regardless of the investor's wishes" and that positions are "dumped at rock-bottom, worst-case prices," leaving ordinary investors with nothing but debt.
Ahn went on to say that retail investors "receive notices of insufficient collateral and spend a hellish afternoon in agony, tossing and turning all night," taking on more debt to meet margin requirements — only to find their accounts "wrecked again by the next morning."
"Who drove them into debt?" Ahn asked. "President Lee personally boasted about propping up the stock market as if it were his greatest achievement, luring the public with talk of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Ultimately, only those who trusted the Lee Jae Myung government got wiped out. Is there any more irresponsible politics than this?"
He said force liquidation "is not just a number — it is a family's jeonse deposit, a child's tuition, retirement savings," warning that "that money is now being forcibly melted away."
