The Korean Healing Industry Association held its inaugural academic conference at Daegu Haany University's Korean Medicine Building from June 27 to 28, under the theme "The Present and Future of the Healing Industry: Opening New Value Together."

The two-day conference brought together experts from a range of fields — including forest therapy, healing agriculture, psychological healing, horticultural therapy and wellness tourism — to share research findings and real-world application cases.

The opening ceremony began with remarks by association president Kwon Ki-chan, followed by congratulatory addresses from Daegu Haany University Vice President Lee Chae-sik, Korean Society of Biomedical Sciences Chairman Jang Gyeong-su and Daegu-North Gyeongsang Province Police Administration Professors Association President Park Dong-gyun.

Hwang Seong-tae, acting president of the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, then delivered a keynote address titled "The Future of the Healing Industry and Forest Welfare."

"The Korean Healing Industry Association will serve as a driving force in developing the healing sector into an independent academic discipline and a future national strategic industry," Kwon said. "We will build a new development model as a convergence platform connecting academia and industry, policy and the field."
