Rain is forecast for most parts of the country on Thursday.
Heavy downpours are expected across central regions, North Jeolla Province, the western parts of South Jeolla Province and Gwangju, and the central and northern parts of North Gyeongsang Province, with heavy-rain advisories likely to be issued. Rain will mostly taper off over Jeju Island by early morning and over the Chungcheong region and southern areas by nighttime, but showers may persist in Greater Seoul and Gangwon Province through Friday morning.
Expected rainfall totals are 50–100 millimeters for Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, with more than 150 mm possible in some areas; 50–100 mm for inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, with more than 150 mm possible in the central and southern inland areas; 5–50 mm along the Gangwon coast facing the East Sea; and 80–150 mm for Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong Province and North Chungcheong Province, with more than 200 mm possible in some areas.
North Jeolla Province, Gwangju, and the northwestern and central West Sea coastal areas of South Jeolla Province can expect 80–150 mm, with more than 200 mm possible in some spots. Eastern and southwestern South Jeolla Province (excluding the central West Sea coast) will see 30–80 mm; the central and northern parts of North Gyeongsang Province 50–100 mm, with more than 150 mm in some areas; Daegu, southern North Gyeongsang Province and the western inland areas of South Gyeongsang Province 20–60 mm; the West Sea Five Islands 20–60 mm; mountainous areas of Jeju Island 5–30 mm; and the rest of Jeju Island less than 5 mm.
Areas of intense rainfall may experience strong gusts along with thunder and lightning, and residents are urged to take extra precautions.
Morning lows will range from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius and afternoon highs from 25 to 34 degrees, with hot and humid conditions expected to persist for now even after the rain clears.
Wave heights are forecast at 0.5–2.0 meters in coastal waters of the East Sea, 0.5–1.5 meters in the West Sea and 0.5–1.0 meters in the South Sea. In offshore waters, waves are expected to reach 0.5–3.5 meters in the East Sea, 1.0–2.0 meters in the West Sea and 0.5–2.5 meters in the South Sea.
